DIY Christmas Felt Pillow Cover
As I mentioned in my last post, once a month I will feature a new DIY Christmas project. I am working on Christmas year-round, this year and I continue to buy gift cards to give as gifts. I’ve already knocked out enough for all of the kids in my neighborhood. I like to be ready for Christmas when it comes around because as we all know, it’s here before we can fully recover from last Christmas.
For my January DIY project, I made a felt pillow cover. I really like how it turned out. I made this one specifically to go with my Christmas bedroom set. I will be making more all year long with other projects to take the monthly spotlight, however, I will show them all at some time or another.
I decided to purchase Christmas plaid canvas napkins to use instead of material. The reason being, I purchased some material and didn’t like the look of it when it arrived. I can use it for something else.
To start off with, I cut out felt Christmas trees. I didn’t have a pattern but there are so many online that you can download for free if you need one and want to make your own Christmas felt pillow cover.
After I decided how I wanted my scene to be, I stitched each item onto one of my fabric napkins I purchased. This can be done by hand but I decided to use my sewing machine because I thought it would hold up better with all of my pets jumping on and off of my bed.
Once I finished that, all that was left was to stitch the front to the back, leaving a gap to fill with fiberfill. I’ve not filled it, I’m leaving it as is until Christmas so I won’t have bulky pillows to store until after Christmas.
I really enjoyed working on this and I’m ready to start my next monthly DIY Christmas project.
