I Adopted 2 Female Lovebirds From PetFinder
About a month before I purchased my Parakeets, I had filled out an application to adopt 2 female lovebirds from PetFinder. I didn’t hear back from them so I went ahead and purchased some parakeets. And then I got an email from the adoption center where the birds were being kept, and they had selected me to adopt my new girls. I bought another cage, and supplies and had one day to have everything set up so I could bring them home. I was rushing like a madwoman but I managed to get everything done, except finding a hideaway for them (which I ended up making). I’m officially Bird Woman, lol.
With 4 birds, I’m going to be really busy keeping their cages clean, keeping them happy and enjoying the sweet sound of their chirps.
If you’re looking for a new pet please consider adopting a bird that needs a home over buying one. I couldn’t find any parakeets close to me when I decided to get mine but I felt good about the fact that I was getting them out of PetSmart and bringing them home to a big flight cage and to someone who would love and care for them for the remainder of my life.
I take them outside for a couple of hours a day while it’s pretty out. It won’t be long before it’s too cold. They chirp up a storm or squeak and squawk is more like it, lol, when they hear the wild birds.
